"I am interested in always showing queerness in my art, in representing my love of the high femme, and the magical ways queers mold and shape gender. I am hugely influenced by camp, queer politics and representation, and the hard femmes who came before me. With my art, I want to reflect back the inherent beauty I see in my community, and to lift up and center queer femininity.
I am fascinated by all forms of “the feminine arts,” and I am interested in reclaiming art practices and objects (like tea time and embroidery art) that were derided or seen as less-than because of their association with women, femininity, and the domestic sphere. I wants to push back on notions of “acceptability,” and use these art forms to bring a queer femme sexuality to the forefront." |
